365 challenge

I think it's time I made some time to even take 1 photo per day.  Doesn't matter what but it's at least 1 a day to look back on and reflect at the end of the year.   After all the sadness of losing dad,  I think it's time I do what I love to do,  photography and a bit more crafting.....

Here goes,  although I essentially missed 1st January,  I am submitting 2 photos.  1 of the new moon and a star that can initially be seen from my kitchen and a silhouette of trees against the dust sky -  again can be seen from my kitchen.

Barns Ness Lighthouse

Mr A and I took ourselves off in the car again and with no real destination in mind, we ended up taking a road "off the beaten track" and ended up near here, Barns Ness Lighthouse.  What a discovery!  We parked the car at the car park not realising if we had chosen the other road, we could have driven directly to here.  It was a good wee walk to get there even over the rock shale on the beach before we crossed over onto the grassy verge from the rock shale, I took this shot of the lighthouse and adjacent buildings.  

Cove, East Lothian Aug 2015

This was a lovely wee place Mr A and I discovered on one of our road trip on the east coast in August 2015.  One of my colleagues who lives in Dunbar had mentioned it and although I have lived in East Lothian for 20+ years, I had never known about this wee gem of a place.  There is an actual website which has some amazing photography and interesting information.   Did you you know that Dame Judi Dench visited this place once?  The site has also been used on photography shoots etc.....

Sunday Road Trip to Queensferry, Limekiln and Charlestown

As it was such a beautiful day on Sunday, even though I am still hobbling about with a crutch just now.... the weather was just too good to be sat couped up at home.  Mr A and I started off at South Queensferry which very very busy with the usual tourists, some who had their dogs [who, incidentally, were taking their humans for a walk!] and loads of bikers, we decided to take ourselves off to the other side.  There are 3 bridges in the above shot [albeit one of them in construction stages...].

As you can see from this image, there is not a huge distance between the north end and this cantilever:

And we travelled on to Charlestown which was an enchanting wee place: 

When we started off our wee walk down into the residential area [lovely huge houses with verandas and some overlooking the sea.......  when we discovered this:

Even with my limited knowledge of rail tracks etc [thank you dad], this enticed us to keep on walking to find some sort of rail track and we were not disappointed as you can see:

The Kelpies, Falkirk

Just how magnificent are these creatures?

Mr A and I paid a visit to the Kelpies on a rare annual leave day in February for me.  Although we had visited the Kelpies together before, I did not have my DLSR with me and the visitor centre had not yet been built at that time.  However, the visit this year I remembered to bring the camera and lenses.  I only regretted not having the tripod for the evening shots too.

Road Trip [kind of] Falkirk Wheel

Although the chap I have been seeing for almost 4 years lives in Falkirk, I have never been to the Falkirk Wheel.  We did visit the Kelpies site not long after the site was opened and long before the visitors centre was complete.  So on a booked annual leave day off my NHS work, we decided to do local visits in Falkirk so that I could get out with my camera.

Mini Road Trips

Eyemouth is not too far from where I live - still I never tire of visiting the place.  A few years back there were a couple of seals that came into the harbour and now there is a trailer van selling fish for visitors to feed the seals though I am not too sure when it is open.  However on Monday, we had a wee treat from at least 1 seal who came into the harbour......

I like how there are water droplets at the end of his whiskers....
